Style Icon – Audrey Hepburn

While it’s easy to focus on current day fashion muses, we can’t forget the classic beauties who influenced not only the fashion of their time, but continue to inspire designers and fashion lovers today. The Style Icon Feature will be dedicated to the style of these inspirational women, who were not only fashion forward, but in many cases, dedicated humanitarians who supported many charitable causes.

Born in Belgium 1929, Audrey Hepburn is one of the undisputed beauties of her time. After studying ballet in London, she decided to pursue a career in acting. After appearing on Broadway and in several British films, it wasn’t until her turn as Princess Ann in Roman Holiday, did she hit the big time. After winning an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance, Hepburn became a Hollywood star.

With staring roles in Sabrina (1954), Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) and My Fair Lady (1064), Hepburn soon became known and loved not only for her acting, but for her classic beauty and style. Inspiring designers such as Hubert de Givenchy with her lithe frame and elfin features, Hepburn became a fashion icon, her outfit in Breakfast at Tiffany’s one of the most iconic in film history.

As well as acting, Hepburn has a passion for humanitarian aid. Dedicating her energy to UNICEF and helping some of the most disadvantaged communities of Africa, South America and Asia, Hepburn was tireless in her work. In 1992, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Hepburn will always be remembered as one of the great actresses and humanitarians of her time.

You can channel your inner Audrey with a classic black dress, pearls, white man shirts, flats, leggings and prom style dresses.
